Finding Happiness in Daily Life

An child researcher, K.R. Knost, wrote: “Life is amazing. And then it’s awful.  And then it’s amazing again. And, in between the amazing and awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine.  Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary.  That’s just living heartbreaking, Soul-Healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life.  And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”

Daisaku Ikeda, the prominent Buddhist leader of the SGI wrote: “There is no self-improvement without effort.  Without taking action, happiness will never come, no matter how long you wait.  A life without peaks and valleys is a fairy tale.  Reality is strict, because it is a win-or-lose struggle.  This is the way it is for human beings.  Therefore, you should not allow yourselves to be battered about by reality but rather willingly rise to its challenges and use them as opportunities to train and strengthen yourselves.”

For those of you who are wanting to wake up, to tap into the unfathomable wealth of wisdom that resides within your Highest Self, you may already be aware of the internal shift that takes place once you stop asking yourself, “why me?” or looking to blame someone else for what you are experiencing in your life and, instead, take the opportunity to see life as an adventure with both joys and torment; to experience the varied emotions that are so unique to the human experience.
